uh...I don't think that's a factory tailgate. They sell those aftermarket, but they match the body lines

This was a hack job, i got up along side it and it didnt look like it was cut completely straight, nor did it look like anything was welded in to fill the gaps on the side pieces. Granted i got just a quick look since i had to turn at the next light so for all i know maybe it was an aftermarket gate. Either way its all kinds of ugly.

Based only on the episode of Mythbusters where they tested tailgate economy, i would believe it would work similarly to a cargo net, however slightly less efficient overall since it would weigh more. My guess, maybe 1-2mpg gain at best.
